Fourth graders ride on hobby horses: City of Osnabrück becomes a carousel
In Osnabrück it will be lively in Osnabrück! Around 1,400 young riders swing on their homemade hobby horses and move through the city. This extraordinary and colorful action is reminiscent of the Westphalian peace of 1648 and promises to become a festival of joy and togetherness.
At 5 p.m. the move in the school yard of the cathedral school begins. From there it continues to the town hall, where the young participants are rewarded with a sweet pretzel for their exciting ride. The route leads the fourth graders across numerous streets, including Herrenteichswall, Möserstraße and Große Straße. Drivers in Osnabrück should be prepared for possibly considerable disabilities, especially in the areas of Schillerstrasse, Herrenteichstraße and Georgstrasse. An exciting spectacle for the little ones and a challenging undertaking for road users!
a festival of tradition
This move is not only a creative employment for the fourth graders, but also a deeply rooted tradition of the city of Osnabrück. Year after year, the children gather to ride through the streets on their colorful hobby horses and thus keep an important piece of history alive. Tonight the city will be fulfilled with children's laughter and happy calls, while the little ones proudly present their homemade horses.
