Bad grades for train stations: Haffkrug falls through, where are the improvements?
The quality control of 183 train stations in Schleswig-Holstein has delivered sobering results. The train station in Haffkrug, which was rated with the worst grade of 4.3, is particularly striking. Of a total of 15 train stations in the district of Ostholstein, only three achieved an evaluation of "good", while the others, including the train stations in Oldenburg, Eutin, Neustadt, Sierksdorf, Scharbeutz and Timmendorfer Strand, only section with "sufficient".
The quality control looked at several aspects, including waiting comfort, passenger information, cleanliness and maintenance. The train station in Haffkrug in particular had many defects, such as a dirty waiting house and inadequate service quality. The DB Infra GO operates 144 train stations in the country and also found that the average evaluation of the train stations in Schleswig-Holstein is 3.02, compared to 2.58 in 2018.
planned improvements and renovations
In Neustadt and Sierksdorf, the first improvement measures are being planned. These include barrier -free access, new train information ads, improved lighting and weather protection. In Pansdorf and Pönitz, renovations have already been completed, with Pansdorf being rated "satisfactory" and Pönitz with "good". The Pönitzer train station is being renovated after the waiting house had to be closed due to vandalism.
However, the plans for Haffkrug are currently unclear, since the DB Infra Go currently does not plan any measures. From 2029, the old station Haffrug will be closed, and a new stop is being built in its place, which will be positioned 300 meters further. In addition, changes are implemented on the route between Lensahn and Puttgarden, whereby new train stations in Lensahn, Oldenburg and Grossenbrode are being built and the Puttgarden stop is closed, such as ln-online.de
The control and evaluation of the train stations are part of a comprehensive program to improve the quality in the Schleswig-Holstein transport network. Transport Minister Claus Ruhe Madsen repeatedly criticized the weaknesses at the train stations and demanded improvements, especially at DB Infra Go. An announcement of renovations by 2030 for rails, signal box and train stations underlines the urgent need for action, such as ndr.de reported.
