Northeim: Bridges in top condition-but water paths of the municipalities dilapidated!
Northeim: Bridges in top condition-but water paths of the municipalities dilapidated!
In the district of Northeim everything seems to be fine when it comes to the bridges on the federal, state and district roads. While a total of 150 critical bridges in Lower Saxony have to be replaced in the next ten years, the road construction administration in Bad Gandersheim confirmed that all bridges in the district are in a solid state.
According to the district spokeswoman Tanja Schebitz, all 119 bridges that the district is responsible are currently in good condition. Only two bridges need a renovation, which is already being planned or implemented.
Current construction projects and condition reports
One of the bridges that is rebuilt, the mill water bridge in Opperhausen is estimated with an estimated cost of 1.4 million euros. The planning approval documents are currently being created for the renewal of the Ilmebrücke in the Einbeck area, and the costs for this amount to around four million euros. In the past five years, two bridges have already been replaced: the Leinebrücke near Olxheim for around 3.2 million euros and the Gandebrücke in Orxhausen for 1.44 million euros.
The bridges are regularly subjected to a main inspection every three years to check their condition. The district has integrated a special module called "Bridge" into its road database to record all the bridges and support walls and to feed the results of the test reports there.
Andreas Moseke from the Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Traffic made it clear that there is none in the district and federal roads in the area of 150 as critically classified bridges in the area of Northeim. This speaks for the overall good infrastructure in the region. In addition, the bridges are inspected by specialist staff twice a year, and in the event of exceptional events, a special examination takes place immediately.
bridges in communities with challenges
Although the condition of the bridges on the main streets is rated positively, the bridges in the cities and municipalities look different. These are regularly checked for their security every six years, and many community transitions are not in good condition. In most municipalities there is a list of priorities for renovations, since the costs can be between 200,000 and 500,000 euros. This means that the households of the communities are heavily burdened. Some projects are even supported by special support programs for village renewal.
Overall, the location of the bridges in the Northeim district is currently stable, and the authorities are working to continue to maintain and modernize these infrastructures. For further details and the latest information on the projects and their costs, you can find the report on www.hna.de read.
