District of Northeim starts a new presentation for democracy promotion!
In the district of Northeim there is exciting news: On the initiative of District Administrator Astrid Klinkert-Kittel, a new presentation was launched that deals with the promotion of democracy. This is a clear answer to the challenges that became clear in the last election campaigns and in dialogue with the citizens. These conversations showed that some people have little trust in democratic processes. Therefore, the new "Unit 3 - Democracy promotion" should not only create trust, but also actively contribute to strengthening democratic values.
The presentation started work on August 1, 2024 and is led by Christian Ulmitz. Ulmitz also takes on his role as a personal speaker of the district administrator. In his team, Dr. Katharina joins the project coordination. Tretel has a lot of experience because she previously worked at the Institute for Democratic Research at the University of Göttingen. Your knowledge of political culture in Lower Saxony will be of great benefit to develop targeted measures to strengthen democracy in the district.
strategic orientation and determination of needs
A central component of the work of the new presentation will be the implementation of a needs analysis. The aim is to develop a long -term overall strategy for promoting and strengthening democracy. This strategy will contain measures for different social areas and in particular take into account the special challenges of rural areas. Christian Ulmitz underlines the importance of integrating the citizens: "Only through broad participation can we achieve that our measures are also realistic and sustainable."
A highlight in the planning is a bar camp that takes place on November 22, 2024 and is under the motto "Democratic shaping together". After the positive feedback from last year, expectations are high. Here, citizens can develop ideas together and discuss how democracy can be strengthened in the district. Participation is free of charge, and the organizers invite everyone interested to actively participate. Registrations are possible via the district's website, and questions can also be sent directly to those responsible.
The initiative of District Administrator Astrid Klinkert-Kittel shows how serious it is to the controller in the district to further promote democracy and to strengthen the cohesion. With this new presentation, a contact point is created that not only provides information, but also actively enters the dialogue with the population. The aim is to promote a living and including democracy that takes the needs and concerns of the citizens seriously. More on this can be read in a recent article on www.leinetal24.de become.
