Remscheid is fighting for an apartment for housing: Neuer detector online!

Remscheid. In a shocking revelation, it can be seen that in Remscheid over 3,800 apartments is tense! These alarming numbers come from an elevation of the EEA energy supplier, which was carried out in spring. In order to counteract this grievance, the city administration launched an innovative vacancy detector in September, which is now available online!

On a special page of the urban homepage, citizens can report empty apartments by simply specifying street and house number. There is also the possibility to add additional information and comments. The best thing about it? The sender data are optional, which means that reports can also be made anonymously!

The city is going against the vacancy!

The city administration has made it clear that both own and external apartments can be reported. The goal is to determine the background of the vacancy in order to take targeted measures to remedy. The data entered enables the administration to contact the owners, for example to help with the renting of the apartments or to provide information on financing offers for modernizations.

According to the EEA survey, around 6.5 percent of the total housing stock is empty in Remscheid-this is twice as much as required for a functioning housing market! The exact reasons are still unclear, but the first observations indicate that a modernization backlog plays an important role. Particularly smaller landlords and older buildings are affected.
