"I was a crazy child - I did everything my father did too," says Mick. He was allowed to try out various activities early on, from diving to skydiving, but the fascination for racing was unsurpassed. Michael was not only a supporter, but also a great support in Mick's life. "We had a lot of fun," said Mick about the shared experiences. But his father's high expectations were always present. An anecdote from a card race illustrates this: When Mick proudly reported a late braking maneuver, his father's answer came: "You should have broken in every curve!" These demands motivated Mick to prove themselves in racing.
a difficult blow for the family
The relationship between father and son was put to a tough test when Michael Schumacher had a serious ski accident in 2013. Mick was only 14 years old at the time and had to find his own way in racing. "In the year after my father's accident, I started driving in the formula class, and from then on I had to do everything on my own," he reports. Despite the challenges, his father's technical advice remained head in Mick and helped him develop further.
