In a historical moment for bilateral relationships between China and Peru, President Xi Jinping inaugurated the new Megahafen of Chancay on Thursday in Lima. This port is celebrated as a "new corridor" between China and Latin America, with the aim of strengthening trade and economic cooperation. Xi explained that Chancay was the "new starting point" for a new era that will pave the way from Chancay to Shanghai.

The ceremonial opening took place in the presence of President Dina Boluarte, the emphasized that the full completion of the port is a significant development for Peru. "We start a transformation that Peru will position as a world -class technological and industrial logistics center," said Boluarte. The investment of $ 1.3 billion will not only shorten the transport times between Peru and China by ten days, but also reduce the logistics costs by 20 %.
