A powerful sign: Holzminden fights against violence!
Holzminden district becomes the scene of an urgent appeal against violence on women! On November 25th, the international day against violence on women, the hiking exhibition "Pictures give a voice" will open. This exhibition shows powerful works by women from the district who have captured their own painful experiences with violence in moving pictures. Carina Stegemann, the new equal opportunities officer, emphasizes: "Together with the violent advice centers, we want to be the voice of women who experience violence every day in partnerships."
Set a sign! The day is not only a memory of the continuing injustices, but also a powerful Initiative to combat discrimination and violence against women and girls. Anita Hummel and Silke Clerc from the violent counseling centers make it clear: "We always stand by those affected and do not leave them alone." This message is announced at three locations in Holzminden, where the impressive works of art are issued. Each picture tells its own, touching story.
Every fourth woman in Germany affected
The alarming numbers speak for themselves: In Germany, every fourth woman has experienced physical or sexual violence at least once in her life, often through her own partner. This hiking exhibition is an urgent appeal to open the eyes for a widespread, global human rights violation. Joyce Düker-Böker, equality officer of the city, adds: "The exhibition will be seen in different locations in the Holzminden urban area, and we all invite you to experience these important stories."
In addition, orange light will shine on various buildings in Holzminden to symbolize a future without violence on women. This powerful visual expression is a strong sign of change and solidarity. Be there when the voices of those affected are heard!
