Hildesheim. A dramatic incident occurred in August 2022 when three men took two gully's lid from a bridge to Autobahn 7 in Hildesheim. The serious injuries that arose not only have legal consequences for the perpetrators, but also raise general questions about safety in road traffic.

After the Federal Court of Justice has now rejected the revision of a 20-year-old man who was involved in this act, the judgment of the Hildesheim Regional Court is final. In November 2022, the Hildesheim district court conducted the trial against the three young men and found them guilty in several points, including attempted murder. The background of the crime are particularly alarming. On the night of August 20, 2022, the young men had invited four gully lid, each of about 24 kilograms, from an industrial area into a car. Then they drove to a bridge from which they threw two of the covers over the bridge railing.

The first gully cover hit a car with two inmates, hit the windshield and led to life -threatening injuries. The second cubic lid broke on the impact on the opposite side of the highway and injured several other people whose vehicles drove over the debris.

The court found that all three men accepted the possible death of the inmates in the car concerned.
