Persection hunt in Helmstedt: Transporter driver endangers children!
An incident in Helmstedt causes excitement and brings the dangers of road traffic to awareness. On Wednesday of this week, a 27-year-old driver of a van came into a wild chase with the police during a traffic control, which finally led to Saxony-Anhalt.
The driver initially noticed through his behavior - he had agreed to carry out a drug test. Instead, however, he reacted with panic and took his legs in his hand, literally when he fled on the oncoming lane. At speeds of up to 100 km/h, he raced through the city, ignored red traffic lights and endangered both passers -by and playing children, which the police put on alert.
the risky escape
The police parked two patrol cars for persecution, which held distance as a precaution in order to minimize the risk. While escaping through various towns that led over several kilometers, the driver did everything possible to escape control. His escape finally came to an abrupt end when he came into a construction site and left the damaged vehicle to continue on foot. Here he accepted several risks that could be extremely dangerous for uninvolved third parties, especially children, as the police said.
The officials were finally able to put the driver in a forest. Because of his mental emergency, he was brought to a clinic after blood was taken from him for the drug test. This occurrence impressively shows how dangerous traffic situations can become if drivers do not follow the instructions of the police.
In recent years there have been repeatedly disturbing reports of similar events that mostly triggered a discussion about the safety in road traffic and the responsibility of the drivers. The current incident in Helmstedt once again raises the question of how such risky behavior can be avoided in the future. In this context, it remains to be seen which measures will be introduced to ensure security on the streets and to minimize unnecessary risks for passers -by and especially for children.
