Technical breakdowns in the state parliament: Petition procedures in danger!

In a sensational incident in the Lower Saxony state parliament, things went anything but round! A number of technical breakdowns have massively hindered the proper implementation of three public petitions. On two weekends it was not possible to support petitions - the deadlines had to be adjusted several times, and the causes may be in the incredibly high access figures on the website of the state parliament, as admitted.

"Something like that can happen," said CDU member of the state parliament Veronika Bode in a sharp press release. But Bode's frustration is clear: "It is disrespectful to deny the petent who has promoted their concerns with great effort for months," she complains. Despite the catastrophic technical problems and the lack of the necessary votes, Bode turned to her committee to enforce a public hearing - but her proposal was rejected by the SPD and the Greens.

Helmstedter Petition continues to fight

Representatives of the Helfstedt district and city parent council, including Alexandra Beckmann and Christopher Papenberg, were represented on this memorable committee, in particular because of their petition against the teacher and educational crisis in Helmstedt. But the situation was anything but rosy: they were offered a new signal process of six weeks in which the previous signatures would have been rejected. "This is not a fair handling! We worked under immense effort, and now our voices should start from scratch," said a disappointed Beckmann. And the worst? The committee has decided to further treat the petition without a public hearing!

"The behavior of red-green is a disappointing revelation and stands in stark contradiction to citizenship and transparent politics," Bode summarizes the situation. Technical breakdowns should not be held on the back of the citizens. A clear call for responsibility in the state parliament!
