A special chapter in Rethem is coming to an end: Gerhard Heitmann completed the eighth mini golf season in the picturesque Londy Park on Thursday. The 72-year-old, who has been a passionate operator of the facility for nine years now, did not miss the opportunity to put the place in good time for his guests in good time. With his leaf puster, he ensures that the 16 lanes are ready for the last players of the year. "I am on the facility for ten to eleven hours every day," says Heitmann and emphasizes how important the satisfaction of his visitors is.

The year 2024 was relatively positive for the mini golf professional, but Heitmann longs for more locals: "Holidaymakers enjoy the wonderful surroundings on the Aller and the breathtaking sunsets, but I also have a lot of loyal regular guests." He is particularly proud of the good cooperation with the city administration and the support of the local seniors who often visit his facility. So the Londy Park has established itself as a popular meeting place.

"People overall aggressive"

Heitmann also brings up serious topics. He observes a worrying development: "The people overall have become more aggressive." This often manifests itself in unheard -of security instructions, especially with regard to small children. "It is important to understand that a four -year -old cannot yet handle a mini golf stick." Despite these challenges, it remains calm and friendly in his park, since Heitmann always finds that you can loosen up the mood with creative ideas. An example of this was the classic car meeting, in which he provided enthusiasm with homemade delicacies.

Now all eyes are aimed at the coming year. Administration chief Björn Syman will come together with Heitmann after the end of the season to talk about possible improvements in the aging facility. Heitmann is looking forward to the support and has many ideas, even if he is aware that not everything can be implemented. So the future of the mini golf course in the Londy Park remains exciting and full of opportunities.
