Hanover in the green: Study on quality of stay in parks starts!
A current study by the Institute for Environmental Planning at Leibniz University of Hanover examines the environmental perception in the public green spaces in Hanover. Various sensory experiences that users make in parks, forests and gardens are to be recorded at different times and by different user groups. The aim is to provide valuable impulses to improve the quality of stay in urban green areas through the identification of factors that influence these perceptions. The survey can be carried out via smartphones by November 14, 2025, whereby participants can participate at any time as long as they are in the corresponding areas. Further information on this innovative survey can be found on the Hannover.de website.
Sustainable initiative on the Herrenhausen
campusIn the area of sustainability, Leibniz Universität Hanover launched a responsible project due to urgent renovation measures on the Herrenhausen campus. Some trees were previously felled to make room for new plantings. Under the direction of Prof. Traud Winkelmann, a concept was developed that finally led to planting 18 climate trees, which represent the "Trees for Future" initiative. Supported by various nurseries, with a total value of around 15,000 euros, the planting project was successfully implemented on November 18, 2020. In the future, these trees will not only beautify the campus, but also provide important information about the respective tree species and their properties. This step initiated on the Herrenhausen campus also promotes understanding of biodiversity and ecological awareness of how to read on the university's website.
The initiative to improve the quality of stay in green spaces and the commitment to a more sustainable campus are two facets of growing consciousness for environmental and nature conservation in urban areas and at educational institutions.
