S-Bahn chaos: Bomb clearing and signal disorders hit travelers!

The S-Bahn line 5, which runs between Hanover Hauptbahnhof and Hameln, will be fully stopped on Saturday, October 12th to at least 11.30 a.m. This was announced by a spokeswoman for the company who has given several reasons for this decision.

A main reason is a planned bomb clearing in Göttingen, which ensures that Transdev, the company, which is responsible for the S-Bahn, has originally reduced the timetable from 30 minutes to 60 minutes. The situation is intensified by two signal disorders at Bad Münder, which make the passage on this route impossible. In order to offer travelers the opportunity to locate, a replacement of rails is set up between Hameln and Weetzen.

timetable changes and additional information

Despite all the failures, regular operation on the connections from Hameln to Paderborn and between Hanover Central Station and the airport will continue. However, travelers are urgently encouraged to find out about possible delays and changes in the timetable in advance. The spokeswoman pointed out that the S-Bahn has no direct connection to Göttingen, but the effects of the evacuation there can also be felt for passengers in the Transdev network.

Another aspect is the increased traffic density on the alternative routes. Since remote and freight traffic has to be directed around Göttingen due to the evacuation, there is an overload on the detour routes. The S-Bahn between Hameln and Hanover uses exactly this overloaded route. For this reason, the clock is reduced even further, so that the S5 only runs hourly instead of every 30 minutes until the bomb clearance is completed. These measures are essential to maintain the safety and efficiency of rail transport in the region.
