Huge response: 25,000 votes for local transport in southern Lower Saxony!
The online survey on the local transport plan for South Lower Saxony has found a remarkable echo. Between August 20 and September 29, 2024, a total of over 25,000 entries were recorded on the participation website. This great interest shows how important people are the design of local public transport (public transport) in their region.
The initiative for participation was launched by the Zweckverband Verkehrsverbund Süd-Niedersachsen (ZVSN) and the city of Göttingen. Citizens from the city and the district of Göttingen, as well as the districts of Holzminden and Northeim were invited to express their ideas and wishes regarding public transport. The response was overwhelming. Almost 4,700 completed questionnaires were submitted, and more than 1,100 ideas found their way to the public via the interactive card tool. In addition, 364 comments were made and 20,547 approvals and 1,168 rejections were noted. Compared to similar projects, where a maximum of 700 questionnaires are submitted, the commitment in this region is remarkable.
how is it going?
The data collected is now evaluated in detail and incorporated into the update of the local transport plan. The results of the card application and the supplementary survey are analyzed and compared with existing proposals. The aim is to define clear priorities from this multitude of feedback and, where possible, derive concrete measures that are intended to improve mobility in the region.
The current public participation is part of the first creation of a joint local transport plan for South Lower Saxony, which is to be completed by the end of 2025. This measure aims to optimize mobility between the city and the surrounding area. The city of Göttingen and the ZVSN work closely together on this matter, whereby the planning office Plan: Mobil from Kassel is entrusted with coordination.
The suggestions and ideas of the citizens will continue to be visible for a few weeks as part of the online platform, which enables interested parties to find out more about the current developments.
In a joint press release, the ZVSN and the city of Göttingen thanked all citizens who participated in this important initiative. Their commitment is crucial for future -oriented planning of local transport.
