Göttingen, Deutschland - In Lower Saxony, the ordnance disposal service is strongly challenged! By mid -December 2024, 92 missions were already counted, which means an increase of 20 missions compared to the 72 throughout the past year. This was confirmed by the State Office for Geoinformation and Lower Saxony (LGLN) in Hanover. Great challenges arose, especially in various operations in cities such as Osnabrück, Göttingen and Hanover, where the dangerous duds from the Second World War had to be defused and which the population concerned in a drastic way. In Osnabrück, around 14,000 people recently had to leave their apartments for over 15 hours, while seven bombs were defused, and more than 1,000 helpers were deployed to coordinate the processes.
