Bus prices in Göttingen are climbing: New tariff zone for neighboring communities!
From January 1, 2025, passengers from the Göttingen Verkehrsbetriebe (GöVB) must expect higher bus prices. Like the reported, the prices for single tickets increase from 2.40 euros to 2.60 euros. Children will also have to pay 1.30 euros for their tickets instead of 1.20 euros. Despite the price increase, the validity times of the tickets are extended so that passengers can use any number of buses for 90 minutes from 2025.
The introduction of a new tariff model, called "Göplus", is particularly noteworthy, which standardized the tariff structure between Göttingen, Bovenden and Rosdorf. As a result, the prices for passengers who commute between Göttingen and the two neighboring communities are increasing less. According to the GöVB, these users must expect lower price increases compared to the inner -city passengers. So far, they have paid 2.50 euros for a trip. In addition to the price changes, various ticket types are offered, such as the hotel ticket, which is only available in certain hotels and applies to the time of the stay. It enables the use of all city buses including the night bus lines and offers a discount because up to three children under the age of six can be taken free of charge. The GöVB also informs about the Buscard E, which is intended for socially disadvantaged persons, as well as the Lower Saxony and Germany ticket, which is valid for trips in the city area.
