Since February, numerous passengers in Peine, Gifhorn and Wolfsburg have been using the innovative app, which not only supports the ticket offer of the Verkehrsverbund Region Braunschweig (VRB), but also saves cash!

The app is a real game change for casual drivers! According to Sabrina Dünschede, spokeswoman for the VRB, users can easily get on the bus and train without having to buy a ticket beforehand. The app automatically recognizes when you get out and determine the cheapest ticket at the end of the day. The offer for bike tickets is also new - a real plus for cyclists!

Discounts for frequent drivers

But that's not all! With the new Fairiq bonus, users save even more. The more often you use public transport in the calendar month, the higher the discount: from the third day of use there is five percent, after seven days ten percent and after eleven days even 15 percent on all further trips! The app automatically calculates the bonus and informs the users by push notification about new discount levels.

The payment options have also been expanded: in addition to the classic SEPA direct debit procedure, passengers can now also use PayPal, Google Pay and Apple Pay. This innovative check-in/be-out project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport, while VRB invests the remaining 20 percent. The Fairtiq app is available free of charge in all known stores and ensures simple and inexpensive use of public transport in the region.
