Raid in Braunschweig: 1,221 vehicles checked-shock cases unveiled!
On Tuesday, October 29, 2024,over 250 emergency services from the Braunschweig police department carried out a large -scale control that extended over nine cities: Braunschweig, Gifhorn, Goslar, Helmstedt, Salzgitter, Peine, Wolfsburg and Wolfenbüttel. From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., numerous vehicles and their leaders were thoroughly checked at eight checkpoints. The goal? Preventing serious and fatal traffic accidents in freight traffic and sensitizing people to the dangers of road traffic.

The officials in particular took the ability to drive, the driving behavior and the condition of the vehicles. The focus was on the main causes of accidents such as the safety distance and distractions, especially through smartphone use. The load securing and compliance with steering and rest periods were also of great importance. During the entire control, 1,221 vehicles were examined, whereby defects were found in 448 cases that stood in the way of the driving drive.

A particularly dramatic incident occurred in Braunschweig when a 61-year-old truck driver was caught with a unsecured cargo. Even more terrifying: an alcohol test resulted in a value of 2.9 per thousand! The man's driver's license was immediately confiscated. But that wasn't all. In Seesen, a 36-year-old threw a bag out of his car before walking into the forest on foot. There were around one kilogram of marijuana in this bag, and it was clearly under the influence of drugs. Police grabbed it quickly and arrested him.
