Emergency card against violence: help in eight languages for Friesland!

In Friesland and Wilhelmshaven there is now a brand new "emergency card - help with violence", which lists important emergency numbers and advice centers in eight different languages. This practical card in business card format is an indispensable companion for everyone who has experienced violence or feel threatened. The Initiative comes from the round tables against domestic violence in Wangerland, Varel and Wilhelmshaven and offers quick help for those affected.

The emergency cards that have existed for almost a decade have been updated in early 2023 and now printed again due to the high demand. In cooperation with the round table against domestic violence in Wilhelmshaven, the cards were expanded to include additional emergency numbers and advice centers. Britta Voigt, head of the Wangerland Round Table, emphasizes: "We hope that the cards will help to show those affected a way to support." The cards are available in German, English, Russian, Arabic, French, Turkish, Spanish and Farsi, a total of 16,000 copies were printed.

distribution of emergency cards

The emergency cards are distributed in numerous locations, including medical facilities, daycare centers, schools, youth centers as well as restaurants and pubs. Ann-Kathrin Cramer, equality officer of the district of Friesland, explains: "Since the distribution of the maps on our part is not possible everywhere in Friesland and Wilhelmshaven, we would like to ask everyone interested to contact us. We will then send you a selection of emergency cards free of charge." The digital version of the cards is also available on the homepages of the equal opportunities officer.
