Free admission to 19 museums: Discover the Open Museummaand!
As part of the "Open Museum Maand" project in Friesland and Southeast Friesland, visitors can explore numerous museums free of charge in the coming month. From Monday, November 4th to Tuesday, December 3, 2023, a total of 19 museums in this region are open to the public, including the Heerenveen Museum.
This initiative was launched in 2023 and turned out to be great success. In order to use the positive feedback, the museums in Southeast Friesland also decided to become part of the program. This means that both locals and tourists can benefit from this unique opportunity, without entry costs.
This is how the participation works
For those who spend the night in the Southwest Frisia and the other Friesland region, there is an easy way to take part in the campaign. In local newspapers or on the website www.museummaand.frl can find a special voucher. After this is filled out and presented in the chosen museum, the voucher holders receive free admission. It is possible to redeem an unlimited number of vouchers, which makes it easier to explore all participating museums.
Visitors to the Heerenveen Museum have the opportunity to learn more about the work of Louis Le Roy and his so -called Ecokathedraal. This extraordinary art project is an ongoing source of inspiration for current artists and deals with important topics such as sustainability, green spaces, biodiversity and reuse. Such topics are particularly relevant in today's world, in which environmental issues are increasingly coming to the fore.
The director of the Heerenveen Museum, Linda Palil-trip, was optimistic about the initiative: "By participating in the Open Museum Maand, we achieve a wider audience. We hope that the locals will discover how much there are to experience in her."
