Bockhorn: Residents defend themselves against new electricity mast in the jungle!

In the tranquil residential estate "am jungle" in Bockhorn, a storm is brewing! The network operator Tennet plans the construction of a 380 kV streamy, and the residents are anything but enthusiastic. After intensive discussions between Tennet, the district of Friesland and other authorities, it was decided that there are no alternatives to the planned route. However, the citizens are determined to defend themselves against this decision and move to court!

The disappointment among the residents is tangible. Wulf Sonnemann, lawyer and spokesman for the “Bockhorn under high tension”, announced: "Many residents will submit a lawsuit, because we have now prepared for this financially and mentally." If there is a legal dispute, the Federal Constitutional Court in Leipzig will be the last instance. The Bockhorn citizens see the project as an attack on their quality of life and demand a review of the applicable laws that they find unconstitutional.

The struggle for the view and the law

The residents are not ready to stand by and without their living quality. "There is always a way. You just have to find it," emphasizes Sonnemann and demands more willingness to compromise. The citizens' initiative plans to defend itself against the Energy Industry Act, which in their opinion ignores the interests of people on site. Tennet, on the other hand, argues that the electricity mast was already available before the settlement was founded and there are no compelling reasons for alternative routes.

The discussion about the route is led heated. Christian Bergefeld from the SPD proposes an alternative route that runs through a nature reserve to find a compromise. "There must be a way to guide the route here," he demands, receiving support from all political groups. However, the residents are determined to fight for their rights and to protect the beautiful view. The conflict for the power mast in Bockhorn is far from decided!
