Trog route in Emden closed for two days - why it is good news!

In Emden there is reason for excitement: The trough route is completely closed to two days, on October 30 and 31! Drivers and other road users have to accept detours. But don't panic! The city has a gratifying reason for the full closure. Because the construction work on the renovation of dary street is fully on schedule and another section is now being concreted!

The blocking specifically affects the section between Petkumer Straße and the intersection to the old briquette factory. Here the access to the briquette factory will be possible exclusively from Nesserlander Straße. The descent also only works in this direction for these two days. Isn't that dramatic? And best of all: a huge vehicle with a concrete pump will be in use during the work. For space and safety reasons, through traffic for cars, trucks, cyclists and pedestrians is simply impossible!

For the city of Emden, the concretion of this section is a decisive progress in the lengthy renovation of the trough route, which has been in progress since July 2020. The problems do not end: a dilapidated surface and constant moisture problems demand creative solutions. The engineers have considered a chess -like design to improve the quality of the road, and a special biking railway is supposed to help to derive penetrating water.

The goal is terrific: urban planning strives to complete the overwhelming 8.1 million euros in renovation work this year! Only isolated remaining work should be due in 2024. The work is even two months on schedule and a new, costly breakdown should hardly be expected. These are fantastic news for Emden and their citizens!
