ZF-Friedrichshafen: 110 jobs in Lemförde fall away until 2028!
Lemförde, Deutschland - ZF Friedrichshafen faces extensive job cuts in Germany, which could affect up to 14,000 jobs by 2028. Around 110 jobs are to be dismantled at the MultiDivision location of Lemförde, which makes local employees in unrest. The Lemförde location currently has 2,500 employees without taking into account the employees in parental leave or partial retirement. In the summer of 2024 the number was still around 2,600. The decline is due to both fluctuation and pension exits.
To make the dismantling socially acceptable, plan ZF to use measures such as natural fluctuation, cancellation agreements and partial retirement. Until the year 1968, employees can accept a corresponding offer at partial retirement by the end of 2024. The acceptance rate for this offer is within the expected framework, but specific figures have not been announced. The works council chairwoman Wilhelm Kenneweg was optimistic and emphasized that the Dümmer region had got away relatively lightly.
measures and current developments
ZF has already launched structural changes, including the closure of the factory and the relocation of profitable product groups. Among other things, the Electronic Interfaces product line was sold and a joint venture was founded with Foxconn. In addition, the works of Wagenfeld and Diepholz are now working closer together.
The economic Situation of the German car manufacturers is perceived as a current challenge, and discussions about the protection against dismissal, which expires at the end of 2026, are to begin this year. Heiko Knüpling from the works council praised the good dealings between the management team, the works council and the employees.
In addition, ZF Friedrichshafen has agreed to reduce working hours with employee representatives at the Schweinfurt location. This comes into force on December 1, 2024 and applies until June 30, 2025. Working hours are to be reduced to 32.5 hours a week, most of the approximately 9,800 employees are affected. The aim of this measure is to compensate for overcapacity and to avoid operational terminations.
