Wagenfelds wind farm: seven giants for clean energy under construction!

An exciting chapter in Wagenfeld begins! The Wagenfeld-Süd Development Society (WWSE) wind farm gave a fascinating insight into the construction of seven gigantic wind turbines last Saturday. During a construction site tour on the Flöthweg, around 60 interested parties were able to pursue the first steps to realize the Bürgerwindpark. WWSE managing director Christian Oberbeck was on site and explained the impressive technical details of the ENERCON E-160 EP5 E3 systems that will soon shape the landscape.

The story of this project goes back a whole decade! The first plans for the wind farm were forged ten years ago, but only after the change in the land use plan could finally start the implementation. Approval for the building applications came within just nine months - a true masterpiece of bureaucracy! Oberbeck praised the support of the Diepholz district, which gave the team valuable information.

technical masterpieces in planning

The construction work is in full swing! In January, 54 massive reinforced concrete piles are rammed into the ground to ensure the stability of the systems. These piles are driven up to 28 meters deep into the ground, supported by a huge hammer that works with a power of nine tons. The foundations of the systems alone weigh 2000 tons - the entire wind turbine brings it to impressive 3500 tons!

The individual parts of the wind turbines are delivered by heavy load transport from the North Sea, whereby the route varies depending on the construction sites on the streets. Oberbeck emphasized the importance of regular quality controls to ensure that the materials used correspond to the highest standards. The new facilities will have a nominal output of 5.5 megawatts and could provide enough energy every year for 28,000 households. A real step into the future of renewable energies!
