Information day in Stuhr: Help and understanding for people with dementia

Alzheimer's disease and other dementia have achieved worrying distribution in Germany, with around 1.8 million affected people. In view of this alarming number, the association Pro is planning an information and information day in the town hall in Stuhr on October 18. This initiative is intended to help support people in dealing with dementia better and finding out about offers of help.

In daily practice, even small memory gaps such as forgetting names or laying keys can trigger deep concerns about possible dementia. The reality is that only a part of these signs is actually associated with a cerebral disorder. Nevertheless, the diagnosis of dementia remains an emotional shock for many families. Lilja Helms von Pro emphasizes that the lively increase in inquiries for support and advice for the current demographic change cannot be overlooked.

The information day, which takes place at Blocker Strasse 6 in the town hall, is open to everyone interested. People with dementia and their relatives in particular are cordially invited. "The event is free of charge, registration is not necessary," added Helms. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the organizers expect various lectures that deal with the form of dementia and possibilities of care. Among other things, the topic "Understand dementia - make everyday life easier!" treats what could be essential for many.

The first session begins at 11.15 a.m. and extends to the late afternoon with lectures that offer practical information and new knowledge about dementia. The support from the long -term care insurance is also discussed - an important topic for many affected families.

A particularly interactive element offers the dementia course. Here participants can experience how it feels when everyday actions can no longer be implemented without any problems - an experience that is supposed to promote empathy and understanding. According to Helms, it is important to understand these emotions to make life with dementia easier.

Another highlight are the information stands at which regional organizations and auxiliary services, such as the Weser nursing service and the contact point for self -help, are available for questions and discussions. This not only offers a platform for expertise, but also for the exchange of experiences and worries.

Such events are essential because they often act as a bridge to improve the knowledge of dementia among the population and to better support the families concerned. Pro is passionate about illuminating the challenges associated with this disease and making offers of help visible.
