Diepholz: Citizens defend themselves against the new all -weather pool!

In Diepholz, important decisions about the future of swimming options are pending. A planned new construction of an all -weather pool creates discussions and concerns among the citizens. The city's open and indoor pool is in great need of renovation, with the costs for a renovation at an estimated 32 million euros. This includes 16.2 million euros for the "Delfin" indoor pool and 15.8 million euros for the outdoor pool Müntepark. Citizen participation, which was brought into the planning process as an important element, begins on January 12, 2025 at 11 a.m. with an information and workshop day. Dr. Reinhold Kassing, experienced moderator from the municipal area, will lead the event. Citizens are invited to contribute their concerns and wishes, the deadline for submitting their own ideas until March 2, 2025. On the same day there is concern among the users of the outdoor pool that the planned paths in the new bathroom will not be sufficient to maintain the usual swimming operation.

Critics, including numerous stem swimmers, fear that the citizen participation is not open to the open and demand more open discussions. The initiators of a petition to maintain the outdoor pool have already collected over 1,000 signatures. They warn of the possible loss of the outdoor pool and demand more commitment to the citizens in the discussion about the swimming offers in Diepholz. The final event of the citizen participation is planned for March 2 and is announced as a relaxed togetherness with music to further strengthen the community.
