Guild tree in new splendor: Delmenhorst celebrates tradition and community!

A radiant symbol of tradition shines in new splendor! On Tuesday, November 5, Mayor Petra Gerlach and the St. Polycarpus guild presented the freshly renovated guild tree in Delmenhorst. The guild tree, which was built in the 1950s, not only received a new coat of paint, but also missing coat of arms that give it a fresh look.

The history of the guild tree goes back to the guild crafts of the Middle Ages and symbolizes cohesion and camaraderie. Wilfried Lippert and Fritz Rohne, members of the guild and now over 90 years old, accompanied the presentation and remembered the construction of the guild tree around 70 years ago. Her stories give a fascinating insight into the local history and the importance of the tree for the community.

a sign of connection

The guild tree not only stands for the traditions of the craft guilds, but has developed into a symbol of pride in the craft and the close connection with the city of Delmenhorst over the years. The St. Polycarpus guild, which has been promoting customs and community life for centuries, is celebrating its impressive 570th anniversary this year. This anniversary underlines the deeply rooted tradition and cohesion that are alive in Delmenhorst.
