Penguin bargain in the Cuxhaven Museum: The big closing sale!

in Cuxhaven, a small town on the German North Sea coast, a very special chapter is closed: the only penguin museum in Germany closes its doors. The operators, Birgit Berends and Stefan Kirchhoff, have built up an impressive collection in the past 15 years, which includes more than 26,000 penguins. "There has been a lot about the counter," reported Berends about the starting special sale, which will take place as a "penguin sales" in this special location.

The museum is considered the world's largest collection of penguin figures. The numerous penguin cuddly toys, cups and even ties have many fans. But the sale is necessary for an emotional and practical reason: In addition to the museum, the operators also have professional obligations that they claim strongly. "We haven't had a weekend for 15 years - that doesn't work anymore," explained Berends.

After careful consideration, the decision was made to sell a large part of the collection. While only a small part of the over 26,000 figures can be seen in the museum, most of them are housed in their home and in a rented warehouse. "The collection will never be completely dissolved," emphasized Berends. However, a comprehensive reduction will take place to create space for a normal home.

"I will never separate some of the pieces," added her and referred to a particularly kitschy biscuit box that is of emotional value for her. Many collectibles not only have monetary, but also sentimental value - a combination that makes farewell particularly difficult.

Visitors still have the opportunity until November 2 to admire the collection. On November 9th there will be a large sales sale, in which the last tailcoat wearers can be obtained. If you don't make it to the museum that day, you can also find what you are looking for in the online shop. The operators hope that at least some of the penguins will get into good hands.

Since the museum opened, over 55,000 people have used the opportunity to visit the extensive collection. The proceeds from the sales offer are also donated to animal welfare associations, which are supported by the association "Penguinfreunde Cuxhaven". In addition, the collection has achieved impressive four entries in the Guinness Book of Records, most recently three years ago.

The closure of the museum is not only the end of an era for the operators, but also for the lovers of penguin figures and animal lovers who are interested in receiving this special collection. "It's sad but necessary," said Berends.
