Big rush in Hamburg: Thousands visit the Gorch Fock!

Überseebrücke, 20457 Hamburg, Deutschland - A top -class spectacle took place in the port of Hamburg at the weekend! Thousands of people flocked to the Übersebrücke to visit the legendary sailing school ship "Gorch Fock" by the German Marine. Despite the cloudy November weather, long snakes formed when the curious people took the opportunity to go on board the "White Schwans of the Baltic Sea". On Saturday alone, the organizers counted impressive 3,500 visitors who willingly accepted long waiting times. It was the first time in nine years that the ship was accessible to the public!

departure into the North Sea and beyond

at 10 a.m. today the "Gorch Fock" will leave the port and go on a first trip to the North Sea in Cuxhaven. But that's just the beginning! The crew and cadets will prepare for the Atlantic, where they will test their seaworthiness in strong wind ratios. An exciting adventure is imminent, because in 2026 the "Gorch Fock" will start in New York on July 4th on the occasion of the 250th Independence Day of the USA!

fresh from the shipyard

The impressive ship recently left the Norderwerft on Steinwerder, where it has undergone a scheduled TÜV. The class must be renewed every three years and the work has been completed on time. The classification company DNV has given its green light, so that the "Gorch Fock" is now ready to go on a long journey again. A truly historical event for the maritime community!
