Iron wedding in Garrel: How a milk man sparked love!
Garrel, Deutschland - in Garrel Maria and Franz Nerkamp celebrated their iron wedding on Tuesday and look back on 65 years full of memories. A milk man from Düsseldorf played a crucial role in her love story, because without him the couple might never have come together. Franz saw Maria in the tram, but only the first name and the street were known. Thanks to the milk man who established the connection, Franz Maria was able to invite you to the carnival session, and the two found each other.
Franz Nerkamp, who moved to Cologne in 1953 to work as a painter, found accommodation in the Kolpinghaus. In 1957 he registered for a master course in Düsseldorf, where he met Maria. In 1959 he returned to Garrel and founded his own painting company, which he operated from his parents' house. On November 19, 1959, he married Maria, who had previously gained experience in housekeeping in Düsseldorf. Together they raised five children and led a shop while Maria took care of the construction sites.
celebrations and health
The celebrations for the Iron Wedding started with a senior fair in the parish church that visits the couple a week. Instead of drinking the usual coffee with the senior citizens' community, they celebrated in the inn "Zum Schäfer" with their family, including their children, mother -in -law, five grandchildren and seven great -grandchildren. The jubilee couple, Franz (90) and Maria (87), enjoy good health and pursue public events with interest. After a bicycle accident, however, they decided to do without cycling and let the wheels in the garage.
