Voluntary heroes: Caritas Social Award for Projects in Oldenburger Land!
Stapelfeld, Deutschland - An impressive sign of solidarity and commitment: In Stapelfeld, outstanding voluntary initiatives were honored with the Caritas Social Award 2024! Auxiliary Bishop Wilfried Theising presented a total of 6,500 euros to six remarkable projects that applied for the motto "Together together". A café particularly stood out among the 48 applications that offers people in mental needs.
The main prize of 3000 euros went to the "Crisis service and contact point on tour" in the district of Cloppenburg. Here, 18 volunteers who run a café that are open 365 days a year are involved. Every day, around 40 people who suffer from sadness, fear or depression will find a place of encounter and support. The project is completely dependent on donations and plans exciting future activities such as theater projects and visits to Werder Bremen.

The second award, 1000 euros each, was awarded to the lunch tables in the parishes of Sankt Gertrud Lohne and Sankt Johannes Baptist in Holdorf. Since 2022, twelve volunteers in Lohne have been offering a cheap lunch for around 60 people every month, supported by the community caritas and the Evangelical community. In Holdorf, a team of eight volunteers ensures that a lunch with subsequent coffee takes place every first Wednesday of the month.
In addition, RiScha projects received 500 euros in Cloppenburg, Lastrup and Lohne. Here, 65 volunteers enter the pedals to drive seniors and people with impairments through the city. This initiative is borne by the Maltese Lohne, the Cloppenburg community foundation and the association "Citizens for Citizens Lastrup". A strong sign of community and support!
