In the underground car park under the Aurich market square, a car occurred early Sunday morning. The Aurich fire brigade was alerted at 5:57 a.m. when the automatic fire alarm system was triggered. An emergency call reported visible smoke development, which increased the alarm level to medium fire.

When the fire brigade arrived, the basement was heavily smoky. Respiratory protection teams entered the underground car park via the staircase and localized the burning vehicle using a thermal imaging camera. The fire brigades from Haxtum and Wallinghausen were requested to support, where Wallinghausen brought a large fan device.

A sprinkler head over the burning car helped to keep the flames in chess. The fire brigade was able to quickly control the fire and the underground car park was ventilated. Shooting scooters were used to move the burned -out car to the exit, where it was later towed.

A neighboring car was damaged, but the fire could be spread to other vehicles or adjacent buildings. The entire use lasted about an hour and a half, the underground car park remains closed for the time being.

In addition to this incident, the fire alarm system of a nearby financial institution also triggered the alarm, which drew attention to the outbreak of the fire.
