The island schools can look forward to a whopping 1,600 euros per student, while the secondary schools can expect € 1,200 with less than 300 students. The decision to increase is based on a school structure test that the State Audit Office carried out in the Aurich district in 2021. It turned out that the previous grants no longer met the legal requirements. So far, a district council decision from 1981 has been true, which provided a generalization of the allocations that should only cover 70 percent of the costs. But the reality looked different: At the north school and the KGS Hage-Norden, the proportion of the district was only 22 percent and 24 percent!
