Full closure in Halsbek: intersection Wittenheimstrasse will stay tight until Monday!

From this Thursday, October 17th, road users in Halsbek will have to adapt to a full blocking of the Wittenheimstrasse/Neugengänder Straße crossing area. The block begins at 8 a.m. and is part of comprehensive construction work, in which the old road surface is milled away and the intersection is to be re -paved. These measures are necessary to improve the infrastructure in this area and are expected to be completed by Monday, October 21, so that the road can be accessed again from 7 a.m.

There are already signposted diversions for drivers who demand a trip via Eggeloge and Eggelogerfeld to Westerstede and back. Pedestrians and cyclists are asked to use alternative routes via Brinkstraße, the schoolyard, Kastanienstraße as well as Hoher Weg and Neugengänder Straße. However, weather -related delays could extend the completion of the work.

renewal of the passage

In connection with the crossing closure, the state authority for road construction and traffic has announced that the project to renew the through the threading of the Jachsbäke under Wittenheimstrasse has now been completely completed. This project was implemented on behalf of the Ammerland district, since Wittenheimstrasse is classified as a district road (K 115).

The building initiative has caused annoyances in the Halsbek population, as the work took much longer than originally planned. The focus of the communications was that the greatest impairments for traffic should be expected during the summer vacation, but the construction site remained for a long time and was a significant harassment, in particular the area between the intersection and the parking lot of the Halsbek sports community.

reasons for the delays

The construction work did not progress in the intended time frame. Originally, a bridge structure was to be exchanged over the collar, and several supply lines had to be laid. The state authority had already admitted in early September that there had been delays in the construction. A significant reason was that the desired passage could not be delivered due to a defective cast shape in the delivery plant. A short -term selected replacement also had to be hydraulically redesigned, which brought further waiting times.

Another factor that contributed to the delays was the special water situation at this location in Halsbek. The new shaft, in which the Jachelbäke and the Hohelieter flows into a water train, was affected by the sudden increase in both waters during the rainfall. As a result, the construction pit was flooded several times and the formwork and the reinforcements have proven to be dirty. The necessary repair and cleaning work took additional days. In addition, it was apparently a challenge to cope with the water rise in heavy rains with the pumps used. In this context, a new drinking water pipe was also laid by the Oldenburg-Ostfriesian Water Association.

The construction work on the exchange of the bridge structure should have originally started and were planned for several weeks at the beginning of July. The interaction of the various factors shows how challenging the implementation of such infrastructure projects can be and how important it is to remain informed about the developments, especially with regard to the necessary detour measures.
