Confusion after bank robbery in Bad Zwischenahn: Perpetrator remains undetected!
A serious bank robbery caused excitement in Bad Zwischenahn on Monday morning. At 8:50 a.m., an unknown perpetrator entered the LZO branch while the bank was still closed. The two employees who were in the room at this point were suddenly threatened with a weapon. So far, no information has been published about the exact type of weapon, since this is still kept secret for tactical reasons, as the public prosecutor's office in Oldenburg announced.
The situation was dramatic because the bank was not yet open to customers at the time of the robbery. How the perpetrator got into the bank is the subject of the investigation. After receiving the cash, the man blocked the two employees in a small room and fled with his prey. It was only about an hour later that the employees of colleagues who informed the police could be freed.
Investigations and searches
The police immediately reacted to the incident and mobilized a large contingent of emergency services in order to search the crime scene and to initiate a search for the perpetrator. However, no further progress in the suspect's captivation could be made by Tuesday. This is particularly noteworthy because the officials rely on the help of the population. Notes that could lead to clarifying the case are therefore of great importance.
The investigators described the perpetrator as male, between 30 and 40 years old and about 1.80 meters tall with a normal stature. It is striking that he wore a dark green jacket with yellow heels and a dark skater helmet. To attract attention, the perpetrator had pulled his hood over the helmet and covered his face with a beige-gray mask. He also carried a large olive -colored carrying bag that he wore on his back.
Important information desired
The public prosecutor has explained that for the time being, they cannot announce any further details about the crime in order not to affect the credibility of potential witnesses. Christina Brendel, prosecutor from Oldenburg, explains that too much information about the robbery could influence the memories of witnesses, which is why they have to carefully proceed in communication.
The investigators ask for possible witnesses to report, in particular if someone has made observations or has video recordings from the Bank area. Information is accepted on 0441/7904115.
The circumstances of the raid and the rapid escape of the perpetrator raise questions that the police are now examining intensively. Despite the difficult situation, the rapid reaction of the emergency services shows how serious this incident is taken and how important the support of the public is to investigate such criminal cases.
