Refurbishment of the Querensteder Mühle: new wings for the Mühlenfest 2025!

Bad Zwischenahn, Deutschland - In Bad Zwischenahn, the over 200 year old Querensteder Mühle is extensively renovated! The impressive wings and the gallery of the historic building get a fresh face. But behind this renovation there is much more than just a facelift - the work is a mammoth task for the Querensteder Mühlenverein and the committed craftsmen who have to deal with the challenges of the weather over the coming months.

The new wings are currently in the focus of the work. "The new blind flaps with which the rotation speed of the huge mill propeller can be regulated will be installed these days," explains Wilfried Fischer, the 1st chairman of the association. A total of 112 flaps must be inserted into the wings - a precise and time -consuming task that the mill will shine in new splendor.

The gallery is renewed

After completion of the wings, the renewal of the gallery, which winds around the building at a height of about 10 meters. "The 25 -year -old construction has numerous rotten spots, so the right time has now come for renewal," says Gert Möller, a master carpenter who specializes in mill construction. The renovation costs the Mühlenverein around 50,000 euros, but thanks to generous sponsors such as the Roeske Foundation and the VR Bank Foundation, the own contribution is only 14,000 euros. Fischer is optimistic that the work will be completed by Pentecost in 2025.

The big mill festival

The highlight of the renovation will be the mill festival on Whit Monday, June 9, 2025. "We expect around 2,000 visitors who celebrate with us," says Fischer. This festival is not only a cultural event, but also an important source of income for the association. The Mühlenverein is currently looking for a baker who bakes fresh bread in the bakery.
