Rastede receives mobile horse practice: veterinarians in use on site!
Saskia Krack and Dr. Eyke Lühken, former fellow students at the veterinary university in Hanover, bring a breath of fresh air to horse medicine in Rastede. With their new mobile veterinary service, which begins on October 14, the two veterinarians want to close a supply gap that was created after the death of the local veterinarian Bruno Leit. Both not only have a passion for veterinary medicine, but also for riding, which increases their motivation to found this special practice.
The decision to open a driving experience for horses was no accident. In Rastede there was no longer a point of contact for horse owners, and the local veterinary practice focused primarily on cattle. As Saskia Krack and Dr. Eyke Lühken recognized the needs of the horse owners, quickly realized that they would be of great interest with their mobile concept.
focus on mobile veterinary medicine
"Our practice is on wheels", Lühken describes the concept. In the trunk of her white Skoda, all the necessary medication and utensils are ready for outpatient treatment on site. "We ensure that the horses can be looked after quickly and independently," says Krack. This includes preventive examinations, vaccinations, dental treatments and the treatment of smaller injured animals and colics that are among the most common health problems in horses.
The couple also invested in state-of-the-art mobile X-ray and ultrasound devices in order to be able to carry out thorough examinations without the animals having to be brought to a clinic. Krack, who has been working with a dental practitioner for three years, would like to continue this cooperation in order to optimize the dental care of horses.
emergency services around the clock
A central concern of the two veterinarians is emergency service. In the region, they have often heard that accessibility in emergencies leaves something to be desired. "We identified a clear gap," explains Krack. During regular practice times, the phone is redirected to a mobile number to ensure that you can be reached at any time seven days a week, even after work.
The demand for such services is obvious in the region. The long tradition of keeping horse in Ammerland shows that many people rely on reliable and fast medical care for their animals. "We would like to help that the horse owners in Rastede and the surrounding area can be better cared for," says Lühken, adding: "Veterinary care always has an emotional factor. It is important to supply animals in the best possible way."
Together, Krack and Lühken now give everything to put their vision of a modern and flexible horse practice into practice and thus make a valuable contribution to veterinary medicine in the region. Your initiative will surely be persecuted by many horse owners, and the coming months will show how their concept proves.
