Ev. Adult education Ammerland: Return ensures restructuring!

Westerstede, Deutschland - Westerstede -The Evangelical Adult Education Lower Saxony withdraws! A shock for adult education in Ammerland! From the new year, the financing of the Evangelical Education Agency Ammerland (EBA) will be completely discontinued. This has a massive impact on vocational training in the region. Ulrike Koertge, the head of the EEB Lower Saxony, emphasizes that responsibility for most educational formats is now being handed over to EEB Oldenburg. A change that raises many questions!

A retreat with consequences

Friedemann Hönsch, Managing Director of the EBA, comments: "We would have liked another development, but now look hopefully." Vocational training was an important pillar of the EBA, with recognized training courses for daycare management and wound experts training for medical specialists. But the restructuring does not mean the end of the courses! In future, daycare lines can qualify in the Rastede education house, while wound experts are trained at the EEB in Oldenburg. The popular day care courses (KVHS) takes over the popular day care courses. Hönsch assures: "In the other areas, not much will change for the course participants." Winfried Krüger, head of the KVHS, agrees: "There will be no big gap."

course offer shrinks

The EBA has offered around 350 courses a year so far, but in the future there will be only 270. The diversity of the topics remains, from socio-political issues to language courses for refugees to IT courses for the elderly. However, the location in Westerstede on Pastorenpadd will no longer be available for financial reasons from 2025. The EEB Lower Saxony has discontinued the promotion of the educational institution due to falling church tax revenue. Ulrike Koertge explains that the funds of the Ministry of Science and Culture have not increased for 20 years. The savings affect not only Ammerland, but also other regions such as Verden and Hildesheim.

Friedemann Hönsch remains optimistic: "We encouraged the parishes to continue to offer their courses." Some courses are continued on a voluntary basis, and the church district remains the EEB cooperation partner. For Hönsch himself, this means a new challenge: in the future he will be responsible for the education area of the church district and will continue his public relations work at the seat of the church district in Bad Zwischenahn. A upheaval that could raise adult education in Ammerland to a new level!
