A concerned resident who wants to remain anonymous raises the alarm: "We don't feel informed!" The quality of life in the area is on the brink, and citizens demand more transparency and early information about developments. The district of Ammerland has now commented on the wind power plans in Edewecht.

"We are working on a partial program to reach the regional sub -area goals by 2027 and 2032," explains Uwe Caspers, head of the Office for Building and District Development. The pressure is high! If the district does not reach the surface targets, the "super privilege" threatens of wind turbines, which means that they could be built regardless of the spatial planning or land use plans. A draft for targeted control is currently being developed, and citizens have the opportunity to comment - an opportunity that they want to use!

The "Pretty Berg" wind farm is the only existing park in Edewecht, and repowering is expressly allowed. Last year there was an application conference in which the district was presented to a project to renew five wind turbines. But the necessary environmental exams are time -consuming and an application is still pending. "Public participation is only required for more than 20 wind turbines or if the examination is determined," said Caspers. A simplified procedure without citizen participation could be used in repowering.
