MS Bad Radkersburg secures volleyball title again in Güssing!

The 46th Federal Cup of Sparkasse volleyball student league took place in the Güssing active park and was an impressive sporting event with over 500 teams and 300 schools. On Friday, April 11, 2025, the MS Bad Radkersburg (Styria) won the final against BG Zwettl (Lower Austria) 2-0. The sentences ended 25:19 and 25:14, causing Bad Radkersburg to successfully defend the title.

In the run -up to the final, the MS Bad Radkersburg performed strong performance, including in the semi -finals, where it prevailed 2-0 against the BRG Viktring Klagenfurt. They clearly won the sentences with 25:15 and 25:12. The group game against Zwettl also won Bad Radkersburg - also 2-0 (25:18, 25:14).

The course of the final

In the final, the BG Zwettl initially had the upper hand in the first set and led to 19:19. But Bad Radkersburg equalized and secured the sentence before they were able to start strongly in the second set and clearly won it. It was the third final participation in a row for the MS Bad Radkersburg, which already won the title in 2008 and 2024.

The duel for third place took place between Prgorg 3 Kometzky (Vienna) and BRG Viktring (Carinthia), with Kometzky winning dramatically with 2: 1 and defended three match balls. The small final also offered exciting volleyball and ended with the sets 25:17, 11:25 and 16:14.

The importance of the Federal Championship

Reinhard Nemec, Managing Director of Sparkasse student league Volleyball, expressed his satisfaction with the event, which is not only important for the participating schools, but also for the entire volleyball sport in Austria. This championship shows the enormous popularity of volleyball as a team sport, which grows in both leisure and competitive sports. Volleyball in many countries, such as Germany, is very popular and is very popular in many countries.

When looking at the general statistics, it becomes clear that volleyball is one of the leading team sports. In 2024 there were around 436,000 members in volleyball in Germany, with the sport among young people and students becoming increasingly popular. The number of pupils who take part in the “Youth trained for Olympia” competition testifies to the broad basis on which sport is in society.

The next federal championship, the 47th edition, will take place in Carinthia from April 26 to 30, 2026. This means that the next generation of talent is already looking forward to the next challenges in volleyball.
