Auxiliary project for refugee families: improve children's life in Unterallgäu
In Mindelheim, the district youth welfare office has launched an important project to support refugees, which has now been presented in the youth welfare committee. The initiative is particularly aimed at more than 300 refugees, among which there are around 100 children who live in an emergency accommodation in the Unterallgäu district. Youth office manager Christine Keller said that these children are faced with challenges such as conflicts, unwanted coexistence and little retreat.
In order to meet these challenges, the project is carried out by Kolping-BildungungsgmbH Memmingen and offers activities such as play groups, homework help and creative offers as well as support for the German language from Monday to Friday. Positive feedback from security service and schools show that the children take part in everyday life and improve their knowledge of German. "I am very grateful for this project," said District Administrator Alex Eder, while the total costs are estimated at around 240,000 euros, some of which are financed from an integration flat rate that the circle receives from the Free State. This is only part of a comprehensive plan to improve integration in the district.
