Wismar's snack operator fights for survival: repay corona help!
Wismar -A new snack on Wismarer throwing grounds, operated by Sven Marquardt (55), is on the tip! "This is currently my second snack," he explains as he lights a cigarette. His old snack has been standing in front of the Hagebaumarkt in Gägelow for 14 years. But the first four weeks at the new location have brought disillusionment. "I thought the shipyard workers were coming, but they are probably not allowed to get out," said Marquardt frustrated.
The hope for hungry shipyard workers is missing. "Hardly any people come on Mondays, they all bring something from home," he complains. And the weather also thwart him: "If it rains, nobody dares to get out of the door." The prices are moderate - a schnitzel with fries for 6.50 euros - but business is going badly. "Everything is on the descending branch here in the country," he scolds and draws a sobering balance.
Corona aid and repayments
Another problem presses Marquard's mood: the repayment of the Corona aid. "I got 4,600 euros, and now I should repay everything within one month, otherwise the enforcement threatens," the operator is outraged. According to the NDR, many entrepreneurs have to expect repayments, a total of around 140 million euros. "This is fraud on humans!" He calls desperately.
The challenges in the catering business are enormous. "The temporary wages should increase to 15 euros, who should pay all of this?" He asks as he complains about the increasing costs for gas and electricity. "I had to close my seasonal beach snacks because of a lack of staff." With one last attempt, Marquardt hopes that the new location will be established by the end of the year. Otherwise he wants to emigrate to Florida - "It is now 25 degrees!"
