Keyless theft in Wismar: Entrepreneur loses briefcase and cell phone!
Wismar. A blatant incident that should make every car owner attentive! Ralf Marin, an entrepreneur from Wismar, was the victim of a refined theft. As soon as he had parked his Hyundai on the marketplace, his briefcase and smartphone was stolen from the parked car. Surprising: no traces of burglary were to be found! How can that be?
Marin used a keyless system based on radio signals and is particularly valued for its convenience. But now the dark side shows: With this technology, thieves can intercept signals with a special device and open the car with ease. "It is incomprehensible that something like this is possible in broad daylight," says Marin. He only parked shortly before his bank, and when he came back, his car was unlocked!
Langfinger in the fast lane!
The ADAC has been warning for a long time: Keyless systems offer an enormous vulnerability for long fingers! You only need two small devices to increase the range of the signals and steal the vehicle within seconds. Because of such technical defects, old defense methods such as alarm systems are long overdue!
police and the robbery
Marin has reported the police incident to notify the insurance company. But the authorities are amazed: "We have not yet listed any similar cases in the responsible area," said the press spokeswoman. In plain language: If you have a car with such a system, be particularly careful!
