The FDP has already promised its support for him, while the AfD also wants to nominate its own candidate, as State Proterer Leif-Erik Holm announced, as Ostsee-Zeitung reported.

However, the situation is more complicated by the resignation of Stefan Kerth (formerly SPD), which has leaked due to internal party conflicts and his opinion on migration policy from the SPD. In a clear announcement, he criticized the lack of integration of Islamic milieus and the failure of the party to face these challenges. The dispute over the candidacy in Vorpommern-Rügen could have difficulties and opportunities for Kerth, since the CDU may assure him of support if it does not set up its own candidate. Sebastian Lange has already been nominated as a candidate of the left, while the AfD wants to send Carlos Rodrigues into the race, in accordance with the information from FAZ .
