Tragic death in Zingst: 15-year-old dies after ecstasy consumption

Schulstraße, 18374 Zingst, Deutschland - A tragic incident shakes the coastal city of Zingst on the Baltic Sea: a 15-year-old died after the consumption of ecstasy pills. According to the toxicological report, the reason for his death was the dangerous consumption of several “red Super Marios” pills. These pills, which are shaped as the head of a well-known video game figure, were also found at the scene. The boy was outdoors on September 28th in the early morning when the rescue workers were still trying to reanimate him - in vain. He died in place.

The police are now investigating how the young people got to drugs. Details about the circumstances of the incident and those involved were not announced due to the age of those affected. Mayor Christian Zornow was stunned and the community has already laid out flowers and candles in a pavilion near the youth center to commemorate the boy. School psychologists and a crisis intervention team are in use to process the shock in the community.

The dangers of ecstasy

The tragic events are reminiscent of a similar incident from the previous year when a 13-year-old from Altentreptow died after the consumption of the highly potent "Blue Punisher" pills. The police urgently warn against underestimating ecstasy pills. "Regular intake of large quantities of MDMA can have a neurotoxic effect and the likelihood of irreparable brain damage can increase," said a police spokeswoman. The consumption of a single pill can be life -threatening. The authorities emphasize the dangers of drug use, regardless of art, quantity or age of consumers.
