Climate protection debate: Stralsund condemned the last generation to fines

In a spectacular case, the district court of Stralsund sentenced four members of the controversial group to fines! The activists had clogged the streets in a daring street seat block in the summer of 2023 and thus attracted public attention. After a long negotiation that dragged on for almost six hours, three of the climate actors now have to pay 200 euros, while another member with a penalty of 500 euros gets away. The amount of these fines is based on the convict's income.

When this did not work, there was a dramatic incident when the driver of a truck was in the demonstrator - a terrifying video of this incident spread quickly on the Internet! The truck driver, a 42-year-old, had to pay a fine of 1,800 euros in May and submitted his driver's license for four months. Many who commented on his actions on the net seemed to support him and donated money to him!

The court made it unequivocally clear: there is an understanding of the intentions of the climate activists, but demonstrations must not be held at the expense of other people! Despite everything, the court decided, given the rapid termination of the blockade by the police, to consider the punishments to be rather symbolic. The accused were not accused of the time of their acts, which played a role in finding the judgment. A fifth activist could not attend the negotiation due to a corona infection.
