Tax money waste: The most absurd expenses in the Black Book 2025!

Kiel, Deutschland - The federal government of taxpayers raises the alarm: over 11,000 euros per bike parking space! The University Hospital in Kiel is planning a three -story bicycle parking house, which is already estimated at more than 15 million euros. While the idea of offering the employees secure storage options for their bikes is good in itself, the exorbitant sum causes excitement. With 1340 parking spaces, including 63 for cargo bikes and 280 for e-wheels with charging options, the taxpayer is asked to pay. "Less luxury would have been more!" Criticizes the taxpayer association.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg! In its black book, the Federation of Taxpayers lists 100 cases of public waste, which range from unnecessary "e-highways" to expensive celebrations of Deutsche Bahn. The railway, which is constantly fighting with debt and whose customers complain about late trains, has spent over 1.7 million euros for two opulent parties despite the tense financial situation! A celebration alone cost 330,000 euros - that is 1100 euros per guest. "Expensive celebrations cannot be expected to the taxpayers," says the black book.

waste in abundance

The list of questionable expenses is long: an unnecessary "e-highway" in Schleswig-Holstein, which is expected to cost more than 30 million euros by the end of the year, is criticized as ineffectively. The taxpayers' association called for five years ago to end the project because it is not a realistic solution for the traffic problems of the future. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, millions flow into the state-owned state stud Redefin, a luxury that taxpayers cannot afford, while the state government is proud of their investments.

Another case of questionable use of money is shown in the road renovation on the B180 in Saxony-Anhalt. A route that was only renovated seven years ago had to be edited again, although it could be used without any problems. The cost of this unnecessary measure amounts to 500,000 euros, of which 400,000 euros come from the federal government. The Federation of Taxpayers calls for a rethink to use the tight public funds more sensibly.
