Students and volunteers save the moor: together against climate change!

The students of the NÖMS Heidenreichstein Nature Park School set a strong sign of climate protection and preservation of the moor landscape on Saturday. During the "Pack together together for moor protection" campaign, the committed students merged with volunteers to remove trees in the Heidenreichsteiner Moor Nature Park. Equipped with rubber boots and tools such as pruning shears and hand saws, they fought against invasive plants to preserve the habitat for rare bog residents such as sundew and peat moss, such as the NÖN reported .

In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania,

citizens and students of the Krakow nature park school are involved with the support of the “Bergwaldprojekt” association for the maintenance of bogs. Here, trees are also removed to improve the water conditions and reduce peat cuts, which contributes directly to the containment of CO2 emissions. This use is particularly important in the context of the climate crisis and is visually supported by the photographs of nature photographer Monika Lawrenz. Your illustrated book shows the contrasts between untouched nature and the unsightly consequences of peat cuts, which is impressively documented by the moor-net website . These impressive recordings illustrate the beauty and destruction of our landscapes and sensitize the public for the pressing environmental problems.
