Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Six schools for digital future excellent!

In a spectacular event at the Fraunhofer Institute for Graphic Data Processing in Rostock, three schools in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania were awarded the coveted title "Digital School"! This award, which is valid for three years, honors schools that are particularly committed to digital education. The proud winners are the Erasmus-Gymnasium Rostock, the regional vocational training center were Müritz and the private boarding school Schloss Torgelow.

But that's not all! Three schools were also honored for their outstanding achievements in the MINT subjects-mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology. These are the music high school Käthe Kollwitz Rostock, the Erasmus-Gymnasium Rostock and the CJD Christophorus School Rostock. These schools show that they not only actively shape digital change, but also take a pioneering role in promoting MINT subjects.

Minister of Education Simone Oldenburg emphasized the urgency of training specialists in MINT professions and praised the schools for their special support in these areas. "We all currently feel the lack of skilled workers up close, especially in MINT professions," says Oldenburg. The "Digital School" award was launched to motivate schools, to sharpen their digital profiles and to increasingly integrate computeristic content into class. The excellent schools prove that they are willing to develop and implement innovative concepts.

The “MINT-friendly schools”, which are awarded today, are a sign of future-oriented education and show how important it is to promote digital and technical skills. These schools are not only visible to students and parents, but are also particularly supported by the economy. The award takes place on the basis of a demanding criteria catalog and through a nationwide uniform application process, which underlines the importance of these awards.
